During Kates lesson we started to research and I've found out a helpful facts such as:
Martin Luther King Jr, was an American he was born in Atlanta Georgia in
1929 then died in 1968 at only 39 years old in Tennessee. Martin married
Coretta Scott June 18th 1953 and they had 4 children.
Martin Luther
King was first known as a Baptist minister following in the footsteps of
previous generations. He became a civil rights activist early in his career.
Martin was a
civil rights activist leader of the political movement dedicated to securing
equal opportunity for members of minority groups.
the speech
was mainly dedicated freedom and justice. He also speaks about how all men are
created equal so we should all be treated the same.
MLK was not just about restoring
rights to the blacks but to restore their self-worth.
He
was awarded the Nobel peace prize for his actions in the civil rights movement.
He had spent most of his lifetime dedicated to bring freedom for his people.
He worked
endlessly on the acceptance of the African American people to be recognized as
citizens of this country and given the same rights as white people.
"I Have a Dream" came to be regarded as one of the finest speeches in
American history. He was at the Lincon hall memorial when he gave the speech on
august 28th 1963.
The
March, and especially King's speech, helped put civil rights at the top of the
liberal political agenda in the United States.
During
these times there was many unfair regulations such as the buses. Black and
white people would have segregated seating this created outrage amongst the
black community. There was many laws which was this way too.
I think by finding out all of this background research it will help me get a better prospective and footage of what to put in my video.
