New Project - Time Based Media.

Time Based Media.
Moments In Time - Speeches.

The brief for this project is to choose one speech out of the list given and create a TV trailer which will act as a 'teaser' about the chosen speech.

The brief states 'use a combination of an excerpt of the speech accompanied by atmospheric, film footage, images, text and graphics.  These films need to be a minimum of 1 minute long and a maximum of 2 minutes long'  and 'will give the viewer a ‘flavour’ of the political/social circumstances of the period in time when the speech was made. This film will also feature text elements, which are used to highlight and emphasise words being spoken in the speech.  You can also use music and/or sound effects in your film, although this should enhance, but not overwhelm, the speech itself'

- have to research to find out more about the speeches.
- look at and analyse films which help inspire you.
- use resarch to develop sketches/moodboards.
- Full stroyboard.
- keep a log of shooting, editing and post production.

Branding and Guidelines

This week i will start branding and guidelines, but before getting stuck into it i thought it would be a good idea to do some research see how big brands such as Google, Twitter & Skype have set the document out also to see if anyone online has posted any tips that would come in useful.

I found that most companies have Do's and Don'ts lists these show how they do want for example their brand logo to be shown and examples of whats not allowed to done to the logo.

The social network site Twitter they have been clear on the do's and don'ts.

the image to the left shows images of what the logo should always look like and also how their logo should not look like.

Pitch

at the beginning of the week i pitched my idea to my class, I got some feedback about the design i have come up with most people say they liked the river how it went round and down past the tree, and they said they was unsure of where the text was placed and how big it was. though im not sure i agree fully with this comment as the brief says that the tittle must be a big part of the cover though i will take there comments into conicdration. i think that the pitch went well though now im unsure of my idea, im still sketching out new ideas to see if i can come up with anything better.

here are print screens of my pitch.

Update.

For the past week or so I have been working in my sketchbook a lot going through idea after idea for the book cover The Wind In The Willows, I have also been researching on google a lot of book covers which already exist to get an idea of what mine should look like. I found that most of the book covers have the boat and the river with the characters inside, and pretty much every single book cover has a willow tree. All of the book covers I found came across calming and happy very much for a child.

I sketched out an in particular idea which was the opposite of this happy nice cover. In one scene of the book the mole is in the woods on his own with lots of wolfs surrounding him staring at him through the trees, at first all you see is eyes. It's a scary part of the book which I wanted to explore, I did sketch this idea out in my book but after thinking about it I came to the conclusion that I wanted it to be really appealing to children as it is a childs book.

I have sketched out an idea which I really liked, I wanted the background to have a teabag effect so this would make the book look old, I thought this would be a good idea because the book itself is old. Then I Also wanted the tree trunk to be right in the middle on the spine of the book cover with branches coming out of either sides. I also wanted the tittle to be big on the cover but more to the right hand side so it wouldn't cover the branches. I thought of having the mole and the water rat to be coming in from the left hand side of the page on a river whilst they're on a boat whilst mr. toad leaning on the tree, looking as if he might be waiting for them.

Im not sure whether to have leafs coming down from the tree or to leave the branches bare at the moment, so i have thought of an idea to have leafs coming off the lines where the blurb will be written.

as i liked my idea i wanted to play around with it on illustrator to get an idea of what this would look like, so i have done a mock up design on illustrator and im not too sure if my idea is strong enough. so i will continue to research and sketch out new ideas.
