When starting my own poster I wanted to make sure the background was virtually the same, I took a look at the original poster and saw how the sky was around the top area, I took the colours into consideration, as I wanted them to be the similar to the original so the visual language was portrayed. I aslo think the orange colour would complement the colour of the blue twitter birds that would soon be on top of the sky.
Once the sky was done which did not take long i added a second layer which was the bottom black base this is what the text would sit on, I kept the base black as is in the original photo as I think it helps the text stand out more.
I was looking at the original poster and saw that the sides had some texture so i wanted to add this to my poster, I done this by using a paint brush tool, I think it looks very effective.
I decided to add text into my poster straight away as I would get a better idea of how my poster should look compared to the original, Though I did look into getting different types of text for this poster I chose to use a simple Arial Black font this is because it's clear, readable, bold and isn't too different to the original poster, i thought it worked well.
When I chose the women come into the factories poster I knew from the start that i did not want the same lady because i think it's dated and would not have supported the social networking poster, I wanted the a young fresh teenage girl to do the same stance which is with her arms up because i think that it would appeal to a much more modern audience, the audience would understand the poster better if it was a younger girl too, so i stuck by my idea to not use the same lady.
When creating her dress i wanted it to be light blue the same colour at the twitter logo as it's all promoting Twitter.
When i added the twitter birds to the poster they originally didn't have a shadow, i thought it would be a good idea to add this drop shadow because it separates the bird from the background and it stands out more which it should as its the official logo for Twitter.
I thought It would be a good idea to have statues in the background of iconic places, such as the statue of liberty (New York) and the Eiffel tower (Paris) this supports the slogan 'Now you can follow me anywhere' it means you can use the twitter app any where in the world just off of your smart phone, which are popular phones to have. so it appeals to a wide audience.
I wanted to add smart phones into her hands. so in her left hand she has a iphone 4 white, and in her right hand she has a blackberry smart phone, i think it was a good idea to add these in her hands as it fits the concept.
Once i had shown the class my ideas they mentioned adding more texture to the poster I took what they said into account as when the original poster was made they always used a lot of texture on all propaganda posters, I used water colours and the paint brush tool with the same colours and went over the sky to make it look more like clouds, when i done this i used a graphics tablet which made it easier to get close to the edges of the sky. I think it looks effective.
After I finished the sky another point my class made was to add another statue for the background just to make it look more complete, I added big ben which is based in London, Im still not too sure on how it looks being there, I might remove it before the deadline. But on top of big ben if you look closely there are wifi singles this shows that you can use the twitter app anywhere on your smart phone using wifi at a hotspot.
